INFJ (Introversion, Intuition, Feelings, Assessment) is an acronym used in the publication of Myers-Briggs Type Indicators (MBTI) to refer to any of the sixteen personality types. The MBTI assessment was developed from the work of a distinguished psychiatrist, Carl Jung in his book Psychological Types . Jung proposed a psychological typology based on the theory of cognitive function he developed through his clinical observation.
From Jung's work, others develop psychological typologies. Jung's personality assessment includes the MBTI instrument, developed by Isabel Briggs Myers and Katharine Cook Briggs, and Keirsey Temperament Sorter, developed by David Keirsey. Keirsey refers to INFJ as Counselor, one of four types included in the temperament he calls Idealist. INFJ is the most rare type, and makes up about 1-3% of the general population.

MBTI Instruments
MBTI Preferences show different people based on the following:
- How they focus their attention or get their energy (extraversion/introversy)
- How they view or retrieve information (sensing/intuition)
- How they prefer to make decisions (think/feel)
- How they adapt to the outside world (judgment/perception)
By using their preferences in each of these areas, people develop what Jung and Myers are called psychological types. This underlying personality pattern results from the dynamic interaction of their four preferences, along with their own individual and environmental influences. tendency. People tend to develop behaviors, skills and attitudes based on their particular type. Each personality type has its own potential strength as well as an area that offers opportunities for growth.
The MBTI tool consists of several selection questions that rank respondents on the basis of four "dichotomies" (psychological opposite pairs). Sixteen different results are possible, each identified by its own four-letter code, referenced by the initial letter. ( N is used for iNtuition , because I is used for Introversi ). MBTI is approximately 75% accurate according to its own manual.
- I - Introversion favored for extraversion: INFJ tends to be quiet and quiet. They generally prefer to interact with some close friends rather than a large circle of acquaintances, and they exclude energy in social situations (whereas extraverts get energy).
- N - iNtuition is preferred to feel: INFJ tends to be more abstract than concrete. They focus on the big picture rather than the detail, and on the possible future rather than the direct reality.
- F - Feel would rather think: INFJ tends to judge personal considerations above objective criteria. When making decisions, they often give greater weight to social implications than logic.
- J - Judgment is preferred over perception: INFJ tends to plan their activities and make early decisions. They gain a sense of control through predictability.

Characteristics
INFJs are meticulous and driven by value. They seek meaning in relationships, ideas, and events, in order to better understand ourselves and others. By using their intuitive skills, they develop a clear and confident vision, which they then begin to run, in order to improve the lives of others. Like their colleagues at INTJ, INFJ considers the problem as an opportunity to design and implement creative solutions.
INFJ is believed to be able to adapt easily in social situations because of their complex understanding of individual motivation; However, they are a true introvert. INFJs are private individuals who prefer to use their influence behind the scenes. Although they are very independent, INFJ is very interested in the welfare of others. INFJ prefers one-to-one relationships with large groups. Sensitive and complex, they are adept at understanding complex problems and are motivated to resolve differences in a cooperative and creative way.
INFJ is deeply concerned about their relationship with individuals as well as the widespread humanity. They are, in fact, sometimes mistaken for extroverts because they seem so outgoing and genuinely interested in people - the product of the Feeling function that is most readily shown to the world.
INFJ is said to have a rich and clear inner life so they may be reluctant to share it with the people around them. Nevertheless, they are pleasant in their interactions and perceptive to the emotions of others. Generally liked by their peers, they may often be considered close friends and confidants by most other types; however, they are guarded in expressing their own feelings, especially to new people, and tend to forge close relationships slowly. INFJ can "quietly withdraw as a way of setting boundaries" rather than expressing the feelings of those who are hurt - behaviors that make others confused and upset.
Other common characteristics
- Creativity
- Insightfulness
- Sensitivity and empathy
- Destination-oriented determination
- Perfectionism
- Trends toward privacy
- Strong written or strong communication
Statistical correlation with Personality Enneagram
According to Baron and Wagele, the most common ennea- tions of personality enneatypes that are statistically correlated with INFJ are Four, One, and Six enneatypes.
Statistics
In his Ph.D. 1990 dissertation, C.F. Gibbons of the University of Arkansas found that this type of INFJ is one of the four most common among musicians, with the most common INFP.
INFJ and career
At work, INFJ focuses on the task of improving the human condition. INFJ is a dedicated, helpful, and principled worker who can be relied upon to imagine, plan and implement complex projects for humanitarian purposes. INFJ is usually organized and prefers work that allows them to complete projects in an orderly manner. They are often independent and tend to choose a quiet environment that allows them the opportunity to develop their thoughts and ideas completely. In addition, INFJ has a very high expectation of themselves and sometimes others. The ideal work environment for an INFJ is harmonious, diligent, and mission-oriented humanity, with coworkers who share the same commitment to positive change.
This desire to help and connect makes INFJ more qualified for health careers, especially more holistic varieties, very beneficial to INFJ - the role of counselor, psychologist, physician, life coach and spiritual guide is an interesting option. The ideal work for Counselors allows them to use their creativity in an independent and organized environment to develop and apply a vision consistent with their personal values. INFJ often pursues an expressive career like writing, elegant communicator, and author of many popular blogs, stories and scenarios. INFJs are smart, and can work in these areas, but to be truly happy they must be able to apply their insights and independence, learn and grow with the people they help, and contribute to the well-being of mankind. on a personal level.

Cognitive function
Based on Jung's theory, Isabel Myers proposes that for every type of personality, cognitive function (sensing, intuition, thought, and feeling) forms hierarchy. This hierarchy represents a person's default behavior pattern.
Dominant function is the preferred role of personality type, which is most convenient for them. The secondary Auxiliary function serves to support and extend the Dominant function. If Dominant is a function of information gathering (sensing or intuition), Auxiliary is a decision function (thought or feeling), and vice versa. The Tertiary function is less developed than Dominant and Auxiliary, but it matures over time, rounding one's ability. Inferior function is a fatal weakness of personality type. This is the most uncomfortable function for them. Like Tertiary, the Inferior function is reinforced with maturity.
Jung and Myers consider the attitude of the Auxiliary, Tertiary, and Inferior functions as opposed to Dominant. In this interpretation, if the dominant function is reversed, the other three are introverted, and vice versa. However, many modern practitioners argue that the attitude of the Tertiary function is the same as the Dominant. Using a more modern interpretation, INFJ's cognitive function is as follows:
Dominant: Introverted Intuition (Ni)
Interested in symbolic actions or devices. Ni synthesizes a seemingly paradox to create previously unimaginable. This realization comes with a certainty that demands action to fulfill a new vision of the future, possible solutions including complex systems or universal truths.
Tertiary: Introverted Thought (Ti)
Ti looks for precision, like the right word to express an idea. Ti notices the minute difference that defines the essence of things, then analyzes and classifies them. Ti examines all sides of a problem, looking to solve problems while minimizing effort and risk. Ti uses a model to root out logical inconsistencies.
Less: Extra sensing (Se)
Se focuses on the experience and sensations of the physical world instantly. With an acute awareness of the current environment, it brings relevant facts and details to the forefront and can lead to spontaneous action. Weak Se's in INFJ can produce detachments from sensory realities, but when this function is used it adds a funny counter with the serious nature of Ni.
Shadow function
Recent personality researchers (especially Linda V. Berens) add four additional functions to the declining hierarchy, the "shadow" function in which the individual is not naturally inclined but which can arise when the person is under stress. For INFJ, this shadow function (in order):
- Extras intuition (Ne) : Ne discovers and interprets hidden meanings, using hypothetical questions to explore alternatives, allowing many possibilities to co-exist. This imaginative game brings together insights and experiences from multiple sources to form a new whole, which can then become a catalyst for action.
- Introverted (Fi) feelings : Fi filters information based on value interpretation, generating judgments according to often intangible criteria. Fi constantly balances a range of internal values ââsuch as alignment and authenticity. In harmony with subtle differences, Fi innately senses what is right and what is wrong in a situation.
- Extravert Thinking (Te) : Compile and schedule ideas and environments to ensure efficient and productive goal pursuits. Looking for a logical explanation for actions, events, and conclusions, looking for wrong reasons and deviations in sequence.
- Introverted (Si) sensing : The data collects at this time and compares it with past experiences, a process that sometimes evokes feelings related to memory, as if the subject were reviving. Seeking to protect what is familiar, Si uses history to shape goals and expectations about what will happen in the future.
