The Blue Chip Economic Indicator is a monthly survey and related publication by the Blue Chip Publications division of Aspen Publishers that collects macroeconomic estimates related to the US economy. The survey gathers top US business economists, gathering forecasts for US economic growth, inflation, interest rates, and other key indicators of future business activity. It has a sister publication called Blue Chip Financial Forecasts, which surveyed forecasts of future directions and US interest rates.

Many papers in the academic literature on the accuracy of macroeconomic forecasts have used Blue Chip Economic Indicators for estimation data sets whose accuracy should be evaluated. A paper by Laster, Bennett, and geoum (1999) makes a theoretical argument about how rational astrologers with identical information and incentives may still emerge with different estimates to maximize their probability of winning, and use Blue Chip Economic Indicators data to provide evidence. support their models.
