CLED for ( cystine-lactose-electrolyte-deficient agar or medium ) is a valuable non-inhibitory growth medium used in isolation and differentiation of microbes urine. It contains cystine and lactose and electrolyte deficiency; the latter nature prevents the herd of species Proteus . Cystine increases the formation of dwarf-dependent dwarf colonies. Bromothymol blue is an indicator used in agar, turns yellow in the case of acid production during lactose fermentation or changes to blue in the case of alkalinization. The lactose-positive bacteria form a yellow colony. L-Cystine decarboxylate bacteria cause an alkaline reaction and build a dark blue colony
